Opening up the telecom sector

Thanks to Raimund, I stumbled upon an interesting article titled Opening Up - How R&D is changing in the telecommunications sector today (PDF), issued by the Economist Intelligence Unit. One of the key findings is that telecom firms are increasingly embracing Open Innovation that at the same time requires an organisational upheaval. This is nothing new, but it shows - since the findigs of the study are based on interviews within the telcom industry - that decision makers are becoming clearer about the implications of a more open approach towards innovation.

After the successful operation of the netculturelab (now for the second year), I am currently planning an open innovation approach for one of the main mobile network operator in Austria. The project will be online on the first of July this year and I will be announcing regarding news soon.
